Polo Club at Mountain Island Lake in northwest Charlotte is a 55+ Active Adult gated community with just under 100 ranch, villa-style homes. Situated next to Mountain Island Lake, the community provides quick and easy access to Uptown Charlotte, Charlotte-Douglas Airport, shopping, dining, parks, golf, entertainment.

Polo Club at Mountain Island Lake in northwest Charlotte is a 55+ Active Adult gated community with just under 100 ranch villa-style homes. Developed by EPCON, beginning in 2008, the community was completed in 2015.

Because this is not a huge community, homes rarely come on market in Polo Club at Mountain Island Lake.

You’ll find both attached homes built on a pin-wheel style, as well as some stand-alone, single family homes in Polo Club. Home sizes range from just over 1,100 square feet to just under 3,000 square feet, with two to three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Of the nine floor plans/models offered, five featured two bedrooms plus a den and one featured three bedrooms plus a den. All homes include a 2 car or 2.5 car garage. Mountain Island Lake, fed by the Catawba River, was created in 1924 to coincide with the building of Mountain Island Hydroelectric Station. Duke Energy manages the lake.

The lake is named after the mountain which appears as an island in the lake. It is the smallest of the three man-made lakes that border Mecklenburg County, the other two being Lake Norman and Lake Wylie. The lake has approximately 3,281 acres of surface area and 61 miles of shoreline.

The primary function of Mountain Island Lake is to provide drinking water for the residents of Mecklenburg, and Gaston County. However, the lake is also accessible to the public for boating and fishing use.
