HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY TO ALL DOGS & THEIR PARENTS!

HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MAN’S BEST FRIEND?

“A dog will teach you unconditional love.”

Robert Wagner

August 26th is National Dog Day! Are you a dog parent to one or more dogs? If you are… it’s your day to go out and celebrate with your dog(s) and to show them your appreciation for their unconditional love and loyalty. It’s a wonderful day to do something really special with your dog(s).  It’s also a great day to do something meaningful for dogs, in general, if you’re not a dog parent, but a lover of dogs. NATIONAL DOG DAY DEALS

“Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong.”

W.R. Purche

National Dog Day was founded by author and animal behaviorist, Colleen Paige, in 2004. Colleen wanted  to show appreciation for dogs, as well as to call attention to the plight of abused dogs, to end puppy mills and to bring an end to breed-specific legislation that regulates, or outright bans, certain breeds in the hope of minimizing dog attacks. And did you know August 26th wasn’t chosen at random by Paige? August 26th is the day that Paige’s family adopted Sheltie, their first dog, from a local animal shelter when Paige was 10 years old.

Did you know French Bulldogs go all the way back to ancient Greece? So are they really French after all? Considered a “companion breed,” French Bulldogs were the result in the 1800s of a cross between bulldog ancestors imported from England and local ratters in Paris. The Labrador remains the second most popular breed.

They do say, however, that if you want to attract the opposite sex, you need a Golden Retriever (ranked #3 in 2023 as the most popular breed). MOST POPULAR DOG BREEDS
